In 2004 visited Tanzania for the first time to work with and for street children and orphans. I was helping out with a dutch charity ("Watoto Tanzania") that helps the children with providing education, food and extra's. The local project "Sanganigwa" is run by catholic nuns from India.
I always had a heart for Africa, it was my biggest dream, my God calling to be there. This was only confirmed more so by actually being there. I still am so thankful that I got the chance to go to Kigoma, Tanzania in 2004, that I did make the decision to go and I am so thankful for all that came on my path there and after.....
To add some more here than just words, I made a few small photograph collages from that stay. You see some of the african beauty, the bags, necklaces and puppet theater we made, the children and SMILES, you see smiles..... children there have the most amazing pure smiles, despite all they have gone trough. Enjoy!
Please keep visiting here often as we are still posting almost daily until we have everything on here about our journeys to and in Africa (and about the dreams for the future!)
Blessings,
Lilian
I am absolutely inspired by this! My husband is a West African drummer (and studies very hard), and we have a love for all things African, as well. It has been my dream to adopt a baby from a country in Africa since I was a little girl. Someday I hope to see that happen. It would be so wonderful to travel the continent, help establish loving, safe places for orphaned children, and contribute to making such a beautiful place a little bit better for a child. Good for you!
